Rubick, the Grand Magus created THe Lore of Dota 2 upon playing a mysterious deck of cards.

It's not so surprising that The DOTA 2 Video Game that you probably already know has a rich and complex lore that spans multiple universes, timelines and dimensions. But did you know that there is one fun fact that connects all the heroes, items and events in the game?

So, buckle up Noobers, as for our post today, we will be covering about the things behind The Lore of DOTA 2. Here we go:

The Card Game

The lore of DOTA 2 is actually, based on a children's card game.

Yes, you read that right. The whole epic saga of the Ancients, the Radiant and the Dire, the wars, the betrayals, the alliances, the secrets, the mysteries, the legends, the myths, all of it is derived from a simple card game that kids play in their spare time.

How do we know this? Well, it's all thanks to one hero, Rubick, the Grand Magus. Rubick is a master of magic who can steal and use any spell he sees. He is also a curious and playful fellow who likes to explore and experiment with different forms of magic. One day, he stumbled upon a hidden dimension where he found a mysterious deck of cards. Each card had a picture and a name of a hero, an item or an event from DOTA 2. Rubick was intrigued by these cards and decided to play with them. He soon discovered that by using his magic, he could bring the cards to life and create his own scenarios and stories with them.

The Consequences

Rubick was having so much fun that he didn't notice that his magic was leaking into other dimensions and affecting the real heroes, items and events from DOTA 2. He unknowingly created alternate realities where the cards' descriptions became true. For example, he made Axe a bloodthirsty berserker who loves to fight, he made Crystal Maiden a cheerful and friendly ice mage who likes to help others, he made Roshan a fearsome beast who guards the Aegis of the Immortal, he made Monkey King a mischievous trickster who can transform into anything, and so on.

Rubick also mixed and matched different cards to create new combinations and situations. For example, he paired Lina and Lion as rivals who compete for the title of best fire mage, he paired Juggernaut and Sven as brothers who were separated at birth and reunited by fate, he paired Invoker and Anti-Mage as enemies who hate each other's magic styles, he paired Kunkka and Tidehunter as nautical foes who fight for the control of the seas, and so on.

Rubick's card game became so popular that other heroes joined in and played along with him. They also added their own cards and rules to the game. Some heroes even created their own decks and factions based on their preferences and personalities. For example, Pudge created a deck of gruesome and disgusting cards that represent his love for flesh and gore, Techies created a deck of explosive and chaotic cards that represent their love for bombs and mayhem, Meepo created a deck of clones and duplicates that represent his love for himself, etc.

The Final Battle

The card game became so widespread that it eventually reached the ears of the Ancients themselves. The Ancients are powerful beings who are locked in an eternal conflict for supremacy. They were amused by Rubick's card game and decided to join in as well. They each chose a deck of cards that suited their alignment and goals. The Radiant Ancient chose a deck of light and order cards that represent its desire for harmony and peace. The Dire Ancient chose a deck of dark and chaos cards that represent its desire for destruction and war. The Ancients then used their influence to recruit heroes to their sides and pit them against each other in an epic battle for the fate of the world.

And that's how the lore of DOTA 2 came to be. It's all thanks to Rubick's card game that we have such a diverse and interesting cast of characters, items and events in the game. It's also thanks to Rubick's card game that we have such a fun and exciting gameplay experience in DOTA 2. So next time you play DOTA 2, remember to thank Rubick for his contribution to the game. And maybe try to play his card game yourself. Who knows what stories you might create with it?
